The World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour is a model railroad show designed to introduce the general public to the hobby in an exciting, family-oriented atmosphere. Each show includes manufacturers, hobby shops, operating displays, interactive activities, workshops and provides an in-person introduction to model railroading.
More than 695,000 people have attended the shows since 2004. The shows generally draw crowds in excess of 20,000. Some have been record-breaking in terms of U.S. model-railroad shows; the mark of 40,000 for the January 2009 Philadelphia WGH on Tour event was eclipsed a year later by the one in Washington, D.C., which drew 41,000. For many, it has been their first experience with model railroading.
Admission for all WGH on Tour shows is $10 for adults; kids under 16 are admitted free. |
